Is this a shoot? Growing Tomatoes – Day 3

This might be exciting! Today when I went to water my seeded pot, I saw a pair of little green leaves peeping out of the soil. Could it be one of my tomato seeds? Or is it a weed? I wonder how I’ll know for sure…

Anyway, this is what I saw:

Seed or Weed?

Seed or Weed?

I also moved the pot to an area that gets more sunlight. Need to wait for a few more days and see what happens :)

  • You are really excited about this…Let’s see how long it’ll last…Keep us updated…

  • :) I love people who do vegetable gardening..

I have a small garden with spinach,Tomatoes,Bindi,Brinjal,Cow pea, Cucumber, Bitter Gourd and Green Chilly..Tomatoes and Bitter gourd are small ones..Even i am excited about it and watch them grow each day.. I hope you soaked the seeds in water for 2 days, this will help them sprout earlier…
    Good luck..Keep updating on tomatoes..

Me – No I didn’t soak them…how much faster will they sprout? As it stands now, any idea how long it’ll take for them to sprout naturally?

  • Hey look forward to more pictures at every stage – I think I can recognise a tomato leaf – as a kid I have played hide and seek and eaten tomatoes to pass time while hiding in tomato laden, pesticide sprayed bushes (supported by bamboo sticks I think)…

Me – Awesome :) When it grows a bit more perhaps you can let me know what you think…Don’t want to water a weed! (Though it’s a bit sad…but what to do?)

  • @Nimmy
    without soaking,they will take more than a week,and if soaked,will sprout in 3-5 days…

Me – This means that what I see is a weed :( since it’s just been three days. It’s seems to be growing pretty fast. Let me wait for a couple more days and see. It’s also suspicious that none of the other 7-8 seeds I’ve planted have come up yet. Will keep you posted.

  • I had a garden like this,while i was in Qatar.
