Day 39 Tomatoes: The first flower buds!

It’s an exciting day :) . Whenever I water the tomato plants in the morning, I look out for the latest growths and measure them against what I saw yesterday. Today I saw something that had me running for the camera. Here it is:

Fathima's tomato flower buds!
Fathima's tomato flower buds!

The first set of buds on Fathima. She’s always been the leader of the pack, though I’m sure Virender, Chun Li and Noah will all begin to catch up in the next few days. I need to transplant them soon now. Does anyone know if it’s dangerous to transplant them if they’ve started to bud? If so, I’d better do it today. If not, I’ll wait for tomorrow or so.

So it’s finally happening. My plants are no longer babies, but are ready to have some of their own :) .

Update: All four have buds. I checked again today and the others are tiny, but they’re there all right. Just imagine – all at the same time!

  1. I can relate to your feelings. It's a special moment to see your plants send out buds for the first time. The feeling's one of a kind! Before you know it, you'd have cute little berries. Good luck with them all.
