Searching for readymade or out-of-the-box breakfast ideas isn't easy. People simply don't understand these words anymore. Instead when I search the web, I get complicated recipes involving heating, chopping, dishes, multiple ingredients. Aaagh! Does no one just pick and eat stuff??

No one Understands What “Readymade” Means :(

I’ve been searching for breakfast options other than cereal. I’d like to get a bunch of protein in the mornings, and there are lots of options and articles on the Internet. But I have one requirement:

I don’t want to prepare anything.

I don’t want to cook, chop, mix, or add ingredients. My breakfast recipe has to look like this (all optional):

  1. Unpack
  2. Microwave (maybe)
  3. Add a maximum of ONE thing (milk, salt etc)
  4. Eat

Unfortunately when I search the web using words like “ready made”, “out of the box”, “quick to prepare”, and “to go”, I’m hit with a list of recipes that are anything BUT quick to make. I mean all of them require either multiple ingredients, dishes, or cooking. I think I must be the only voice in the wilderness crying out of the purity of a ready made breakfast.

I’m lazy obviously, but I can’t be the only person out there right? Look at these sites which claim to have “out of the box” or “easy” recipes. Those are anything but easy and out of the box! What these sites are asking for is too much time and effort. I just about tolerate two rounds of microwaving food with frozen meals (one before and one after stirring). Does anyone else feel this way? I mean I can’t be the only person out there who wants a easy and hassle free meal right?

Deceptive marketing – that’s what it is. You should not be allowed to call something “readymade” unless it’s you know…readymade! So at this point, it’s still cornflakes till I find something else…

  1. Do you have a toaster ? While 4 slices are toasting brown and crisp..unwrap two slices of cheese to place between them..or mix butter with Marmite ( remember ” roti butter Marmite ? )..to spread on them..and hey presto your breakfast is ready in a jiff !

  2. If you’re still state side them I would suggest instant oatmeal. Add water or milk and heat. You could also do yogurt or a per cut fruit. Also there are several lines of sauage, egg and cheese biscuits that are microwavable. I can’t vouche for the taste cause it could be an aquired American thing.

  3. 100 gms oatmeal would provide 13 gms of protein..same as 3 egg whites…but you would get 63 gms carb..which is way too much to eat for breakfast.. egg has nil carb…

  5. The term Ready made reflect the hunger and for that one don’t need a silver fork to eat good food.
