All four seedlings took a breather for a couple of days after opening up their cotyledon leaves<\/a> and now they’ve started growing their first set of true leaves. Here’s Fathima (no preferential treatment here – it’s just that since she popped out first, hers are the most well developed :) ):<\/p>\n

Waiting for them to grow a few more centimeters before I transplant them into gamlas<\/em> the size of which will be similar to the one all four are in right now. I went to the horticultural society and bought 8 bags of top quality soil, organic compost, and some potassium supplement.<\/p>\n

I’m still not sure as to how deep they must finally be planted, or how wide a space I should give them. But one step at a time I guess. I’m keeping a close watch on the garden to see which areas get enough sunlight, but not too much. This is going to be an exercise in balance.
