But we lose track of the changes, and only the feeling remains. This is a problem when we want to evaluate how far we&#8217;ve come &#8211; a problem which provides good ammunition to those who contend that nothing is getting better.<\/p>\n<p>I decided to keep track of developments by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/edit?id=1nZNKszH1pIcG5qWlK2NhkQmqdp-bVQ7HtQgBNCfcvaQ&amp;hl=en_GB&amp;authkey=CKyD2bkM\">creating a document<\/a> which will update every time an important achievement occurs. The criteria for inclusion are:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The improvement must be <strong>real<\/strong>. Not planned<br \/>\nThe improvement must be <strong>pan-India<\/strong>. Nothing regional<br \/>\nThe improvement must be <em><strong><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">sweeping<\/span><\/strong> &#8211; <\/em>something that makes a <em>huge<\/em> difference<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Think it&#8217;s too much? That nothing like this has happened for years? <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/edit?id=1nZNKszH1pIcG5qWlK2NhkQmqdp-bVQ7HtQgBNCfcvaQ&amp;hl=en_GB&amp;authkey=CKyD2bkM\">Go take a look<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>A few things that have been added are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Decriminalization of homosexuality<\/li>\n<li>The National Litigation Policy (NLP)<\/li>\n<li>The Direct Tax Code (DTC) and<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Mission Undertrial&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Many achievements are left out. <strong>Please add those you know.<\/strong> It&#8217;s a public document and it belongs to you. You can leave comments on new changes in the &#8220;reply&#8221; section at the bottom if you don&#8217;t want to do it yourself.<\/p>\n<p>The next time you have to defend India against those who say that it&#8217;s useless \u00a0&#8211; you&#8217;ll know where to point them to.
