And the galaxy screamed…

Earth blazed with feeling. Out into the cold black void, the emotions of billions of creatures scorched the barren wastelands of space in a colossal outburst that cried out “I care!”

The feelings didn’t diminish with distance. They passed by the impassive blackhole at the center of the milky way which didn’t give a flying fuck one way or the other. They scorned the gargantuan distance between galaxies, flooding the universe with their cry.

Whether or not there was anyone to listen, didn’t matter. The feelings were replenishing themselves like an unending fountain whose source was the very laws of physics that made the universe sterile. What did it matter that the feelings would eventually die? They didn’t care to make an impact. But like a sudden shower in the desert, they did.

For the past is never lost and doesn’t vanish. The arrow of time ensures that the future is built on the past. And the tremors of what happen leave tracks that can never be erased.

And then the source began to grow. With a jarring screech it increased in intensity and the stars covered their ears against this blasphemy that defied their impassivity.

The heart of the universe, dormant all this while suddenly began to beat. The fibers of space were jolted out of their complacency as the emotions flooded them to capacity and they were forced to acknowledge that the days of stoicism were ended. The universe had changed forever.

Life had finally arrived.
